Electronic Medical records (EMR) Application for Cosmetic surgeries in UK:

Harrier developed an Electronic Medical records (EMR) Application for Cosmetic surgeries to gather physician and their patient's information in the line of procedure. The stages for procedure are: Pre-Treatment, Treatment, Follow up, Duration Complaint, Adverse event.

The main requirement was to develop a system for data capturing and report generation in a secured manner:

Data Capturing : Providing web-pages to gather physician and their patient's information in the line of procedure. The stages for procedure are: Pre-Treatment, Treatment, Follow up, Duration Complaint, Adverse event.
Report Generation
- Generating PDF report for various stages of procedure independently
- Formatting and designing the report based on stages of procedure for the patient
- Multiple report search based on Date and Patient Initials

Solution: The Procedure Registry is a Web 2.0 application developed to facilitate the recording of cosmetic surgery procedures carried out in the UK. Its purpose is to monitor the clinical effects and to report trends in the use of VRF and to maintain these records as a basis for research. The registry is intended to facilitate the uniform recording of all aspects of VRF treatment.

Challenges:

Meeting the requirement of Rich User Interface, perfect to pixel was a big challenge. This was overcome by involving client and developing the interface as per their specifications. Use of JQuery to achieve better user interface and animation effects.
Developing the Customized Pop up was difficult and was achieved after multiple rework and research in JQuery.
Picture comparison for comparing the pre and post procedure images. Using JQuery and research helped in accomplishing this.

Validation testing for US FDA Compliance:

Problem: A Web based SCM system for medical devices with over 125 use cases, was required to be validation-tested.
What we did:
1. Prepared Test Plan
2. Authored Test scripts
3. Reviewed Test scripts for approval
4. Executed approved test scripts and prepared test reports to document results
5. Documented deviations in functionality or exceptions
Major Challenges-Solutions:
1. Met challenging deadline - Authored 56 Test Scripts and executed all within 4 months as per the initial plan. This was achieved through thorough planning, adequate and well-trained resources, prioritization of tasks, project tracking, in-time risk management, teamwork and frequent interaction with the client by having working hours overlapping with their time zone.
2. Testing of an application based on Palm OS platform - Tested various functionalities of an application running on Palm OS using Palm Simulator on MS Windows.

Internet Pharmacy System: IPS is an Web2.0 online Pharmacy with integrated shipping and inventory management system. It has 2 modules; one for a customer to select and purchase medicines by submitting the prescription and another one for the administrator to configure the system and products available for sale online. IPS is developed using JEE technologies, AJAX and Struts framework.
Point-of-sale (PoS) application for Swedish Pharmacy: This is a PoS application that directly interacts and makes service calls to Swedish central system for patient's information and prescription details to validate patient's purchase history before rendering medicines. The system has integrated bar code scanner, credit card authentication. It is developed on Windows PoS Ready operating system using MS .Net framework.
